Yuvraj Singh’s name featured in Punjab probables for Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament

The dream of many fans to see Yuvraj Singh back in competitive cricket brightened after the former India all-rounder was named in Punjab’s 30-man probable squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.

Yuvraj, who had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket last year, was requested by the Punjab Cricket Association to play for them and the two-time World Cup winner had given his assurance.

As per reports from notable media, the recently turned 39-year-old cricketer has been training regularly at the PCA stadium in Mohali. Yuvraj on his social media account had shared a video clip of him batting to make his intentions clear.

However, there is no clarity whether the flamboyant left-hander will get to play for Punjab. PCA secretary Puneet Bali quoted in the report that they are still waiting for BCCI’s response.

Yuvraj had participated in the Global T20 league in Canada after receiving a NOC from BCCI since the Indian cricket board does not permit any active players to participate in foreign T20 leagues.

Another well-known player that has been included in the Punjab probables’ list for this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s is Barinder Sran. After being left out of the Punjab Vijay Hazare Trophy squad the seamer had decided to move to Chandigarh last year.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s will commence India’s domestic cricket from January 10 with the final of the tournament scheduled for January 31.
