India’s Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the few bowlers that have been consistent in international cricket in recent years. But there were some concerns regarding his fitness last year. Also, earlier during this year’s New Zealand tour, his form was not up to his bowling standards.
His immense control of yorkers and the variations he has with the unusual action made him an interesting prospect. After putting on some stellar performance in the T20 format, the speedster was included in the Test team as well. But his unusual run-up and action as brought doubts about him as a Test bowler.
The West Indian legend Courtney Walsh however feels that Jasprit Bumrah has the potential of becoming a successful bowler down the road. Walsh believes Bumrah to be a skillful bowler and can perform similarly to James Anderson and Stuart Broad on the longer run.
Walsh said Bumrah has the potential to reach the position of Anderson and Broad. He added that Bumrah does have a funny run-up but his skill overshadows it in a better way. Walsh was the first-ever player in Test cricket to reach 500 wickets.
Courtney Walsh also feels the Indian speedster can reach such success only if he maintains his fitness for a longer run. If not, he could not make his mark in all formats in a big way. Walsh concluded by saying it depends on how hungry the Indian is in achieving success.
