Virat Kohli will score runs whether he is playing under Rohit Sharma or anybody else, says Sunil Gavaskar

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar said Virat Kohli is a world-class player and would be back amongst runs very soon. Gavaskar backed Kohli to score runs for India irrespective of the captain he is playing under. The legendary batter has admitted that Kohli will continue to score more runs despite not being the captain of the team anymore.

Gavaskar admitted that Kohli did not get runs in the first ODI against the Windies but he will score runs for India whether he is playing under Rohit Sharma or anybody else. Gavaskar admitted that talks about Rohit Sharma and Kohli not gelling are always speculation. Gavaskar said that they are playing for India and this is not happening for the first time.

Gavaskar said that these two players do not even bother about it because they know the fact. Gavaskar expressed there are often speculations that the captain who is now a player in the team will not want the new captain to succeed.

Earlier last December, Kohli openly declared that he did not have a rift with Rohit. If a player does not contribute with the bat or ball, then he is going to be out of the team. Former Indian opener continued that all these talks are mere conjectures from people who have nothing to do and tend to create stories.

The former skipper continues to play an active role on the field. Kohli suggested Chahal to bowl the wrong one to scalp Kieron Pollard for a golden duck. Later, Kohli persuaded Rohit to go for the DRS and Chahal got another wicket.
