T20 World Cup: India lost their opening match against Pakistan

Pakistan outplayed India and won the match by 10 wickets at Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan registered their first-ever win over India in an ICC World Cup match. Babar Azam (68*) and Mohammad Rizwan (79*) played excellent knocks to reach the target and remained unbeaten. Indian bowlers struggled to find the rhythm and take wickets.

After being put into bat, India got off to the worst start ever. Shaheen Afridi stunned India by dismissing Rohit Sharma in the fourth delivery of the first over. Afridi trapped Rohit LBW for a golden duck. Afridi then dismissed KL Rahul (3) by disturbing his woods. Suryakumar Yadav played few shots but perished for 11 in the sixth over. Pakistan put pressure on India and reduced them to 36/3 in the power play.

India skipper Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant added crucial 53 runs for the fourth wicket. Pant, who batted well to maintain the run-rate, went back for 39. Kohli scored his 29th T20I half-century before getting out for 57 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya failed to play big shots. Eventually, India managed to post 151/6 in their 20 overs.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan gave a brisk start to their side. Both played sensibly and made sure that they did not lose their wickets. The duo guided Pakistan to 71/0 at the halfway mark. Azam and Rizwan played smart cricket by hitting boundaries and rotating the strikes.

Babar Azam smashed his fifty and took Pakistan to 101/0 after 13 overs. Meanwhile, Rizwan also scored his half-century as Pakistan clinched the victory with 2.1 overs to spare. Pakistan had started the tournament with a dominating win.
