SRH thrash MI by 10 wickets and qualify for the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Mumbai Indians by 10 wickets in the last league match of this year’s tournament. Now with this victory, SRH has confirmed its place in the playoffs for the fifth consecutive time. Their victory has ended Kolkata Knight Riders’ hopes of progressing in the tournament any further. KKR has failed to make it to the base playoffs for the second consecutive year. Last year too, KKR’s team finished in fifth position.

Asked to bat first Mumbai scored 149 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. In reply, SRH scored 151 runs in 17.1 overs. Enroute the chase SRH’s both openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha hit half-centuries. Warner scored an unbeaten 85 from 58 balls where he hit 10 fours and a six while his partner Saha smashed 1 six and 7 fours to score 58 off 45 balls.

Kieron Pollard’s blistering knock of 2 fours and 4 sixes saw him score 41 off 25 balls. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for 36 runs while Ishaan Kishan contributed 33 runs. Rohit Sharma, who returned after the injury, could score only 4 runs. He has not been selected for the Indian team visiting Australia. Quinton De Kock was out for 25 runs. Nathan Coulter Nile (1) was dismissed by Jason Holder who registered his 100th wicket in T20 cricket. Sandeep Sharma took 3 wickets for Hyderabad. Holder and Shahbaz Nadeem each got 2 wickets.
