South Africa Vs England 1st Test Day 1

South Africa test series against England began on 26th December 2019 at Super Sports Park, South Africa. England won the toss and decided to field.

South African batsmen Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar opened for the team, but on the first ball, Elgar scored a duck from the hands of James Anderson by marking his 150th Test series achievement.

Further, the partnership continued with Zubayr Hamza who together scored 59 runs then again Markram leaves the ground. Stuart Broad from England picks Hamza’s wicket, and the match dissolves for lunch in 26 overs.

Proteas captain walked in to bat along with HE van der Dussen, and the England team captain Joe Roots gets another player off. Some of the remarkable balls from the bowlers got bounced off favoring the team. Quinton de Kock’s 50 in 46 overs and Dwaine Pretorious runs seeded hope for the team, but then Pretorious goes back with 33 runs by Roots.

Kock’s wicket did place them behind in setting a huge score especially with a couple more needed runs for his century. The famous English bowler Jofra Archer opened his account with Keshav Maharaj. After not much runs the score ends with 277-9 in 84.3 overs.

The easy edges while pitching the Proteas players earned quick wickets for the English team in Day 1 series. However, the runs scored by South African players are expected to be enough when considering their batting patience with the England team.
