Rahul Dravid: I’m getting unnecessary credit, the boys deserve all the praise

After India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the second time in a row, social media pour in their praise for Rahul Dravid who was the former U-19 and India A coach. As many Indian senior players were ruled out due to injury, a number of youngsters stepped up to the big occasion and won the series for India. The interesting part is that every young player in the series has played under Dravid in their junior level career. Shubman Gill was part of the Dravid-coached U-19 team which won the World Cup in 2018 and Rishabh Pant who was India’s highest run-scorer in the series, was coached by Dravid at U-19, ‘A’ level, and in IPL. Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Hanuma Vihari, and Prithvi Shaw have also played under the coaching of Dravid before making it to the national team. Getting to know the contribution of the ICC Hall of Famer in various levels of the sport the fans are awe-struck of their former Indian captain. Overwhelmed by all the praise he is been receiving Dravid said in his recent interaction with the media that it is not him, but the team and support staff who deserve all the praise. Rahul Dravid served as the coach of India A and U-19 teams from 2015 to 2019. He stepped down from the job in 2019 only to take over as the Head of Cricket at the NCA.
