This is Punjab King’s first win after three consecutive defeats this season. They defeated Rajasthan Royals in their first match and later went on to lose in their next three against Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. On the other hand, this is the second consecutive defeat of defending champion Mumbai Indians. They were defeated by Delhi Capitals in their last match. For Punjab, captain KL Rahul hit 60 off 52 balls. He hit three fours and three sixes in his innings. Chris Gayle scored an unbeaten 43 off 35 balls. The universe boss smashed 5 fours and 2 sixes while Mayank Agarwal was dismissed for 25 runs off 20 balls.
Mumbai Indians scored 131 runs losing 6 wickets. Captain Rohit scored the highest of 63 runs off 51 balls. Apart from him, Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 runs. Spinner Ravi Bishnoi, playing his first match of the season took 2 wickets. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami also scalped 2 wickets. Kieron Pollard scored 16 off 12 balls. Ishan Kishan 6, Krunal Pandya 3 and Hardik Pandya 1 runs.
