Kane Williamson, the New Zealand skipper opened up on his friendship with Virat Kohli and revealed that their friendship is deeper than the game of cricket.
The picture where both Kane and Kohli hugging each other went viral on social media. Williamson clarified that the relationship between them is more than just a hug. Top batsmen of the current generation, Williamson and Kohli have been rivals on the field since their U-19 campaign but they have developed a strong friendship over the years.
Kane and Kohli share a strong bond both on and off the field. Kohli, who rarely shares posts with players, had shared a picture with Williamson on the India tour of New Zealand in 2020. The duo has mutual respect.
Williamson recalled the hugging and said that moment was very nice. He added that anytime playing against India in any field, it’s really a tough challenge. Williamson further added his friendship with Virat stems back several years and sorts of different times.
Williamson faced a tough time in his career as New Zealand lost the 2019 World cup but he continued to lead the Black Caps and made sure that they win the WTC Final. Williamson said it was a close game as both the teams played really hard and throughout the match, it felt like it was on a knife’s edge.
