Nicolas Puran’s last-ball six gives Kings XI Punjab a much-needed win

Kings XI Punjab defeated RCB by 8 wickets and with this victory, their series of consecutive defeats from five matches were also broken. In this match, Virat Kohli chose batting after winning the toss. RCB scored 171 for 6 wickets. Chasing the target, Kings XI Punjab won the match by scoring 177 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Punjab’s captain KL Rahul, opener Mayank Agarwal and Chris Gayle played a key role in this victory. However, it is also true that Punjab could not have tasted victory without Nicolas Puran’s last-ball six. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle both scored half-centuries for Punjab. Rahul scored 61* runs while Gayle scored 53. Earlier to that Mayank Agarwal batted a fast-paced inning in which he scored 45 runs off 25 balls.

For the 9th time in the history of the tournament, a team has won the match by hitting a six off the last ball. Earlier, Rohit Sharma won matches by hitting the maximum in 2009, 2011 and 2012. In the 2019 season, Mitchell Santner won the match for CSK by hitting the last ball to six against RR.

Earlier on 26 September, KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab defeated RCB by 97 runs. However, Punjab lost all 5 matches they played after that game. Now after this win, Punjab has 4 points with 2 wins in 8 matches and are still placed at the last position in the league’s points table.
