South Africa produced a clinical performance to outclass India by four wickets in the second T20I match to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Chasing an average target of 149, Heinrich Klaasen’s magnificent knock of 81 off 46-balls powered the Proteas to beat the hosts at Cuttack. Despite Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s excellent figures of 4/13, Klaasen’s brilliant batting and power-hitting took South Africa home with ease.

Batting first, India had a shocking start as Kagiso Rabada dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad (1) in the very first over. But Ishan Kishan counter-attacked with some beautiful shots and scored 34-runs before Anrich Nortje bagged him. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for India with 40-runs. Both Ishan and Iyer failed to convert their starts into big score.

The Proteas’ seamers bowled a disciplined attack to take regular wickets and also kept India’s scoring rate under control. In the end, Dinesh Karthik’s unbeaten 30 off 21-balls helped India to reach a respectable total of 148/6 in 20 overs.

In reply, the Proteas had a poor start as Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar took three wickets inside the powerplay overs and reduced them to 29/3. However, Temba Bavuma and Klaasen steadied South African innings by adding 64-runs for the fourth wicket.

Bavuma fell to Yuzvendra Chahal after contributing useful 35-runs. Klaasen who constructed his innings quite well from the start, went on to register his highest score in T20Is. Klaasen smashed seven boundaries and five sixes as he took a special liking to the Indian spinners. David Miller (20) hit the winnings runs with 10 balls to spare.
