Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood who plays for CSK has pulled out from IPL 2021 to stay in shape for the upcoming international calendar. With Josh Philippe and Mitchell Marsh already deciding to opt out of this IPL season Hazlewood is the third Australian to have taken the same path. Since last year of July Hazlewood has been moving from one bio-secure bubble to another and so he has now decided to focus on staying physically and mentally ready for what could be a crucial year for Australia.
When speaking to cricket.com.au Hazlewood said it’s been a long 10 months inside bio-bubbles at different times, so he has decided to take a break from cricket and spend some time with his family at home in Australia for the next couple of months. With them having a long West Indies tour and The Bangladesh T20 tour in the end of the year he believes this would be a long winter.
Already with the T20 World Cup being played this year and then leading into the Ashes Australia is to have a big 12 months and Hazlewood wants to be in the best shape and mental health to perform well in those series and ICC events. Looking into those things he has come up with this decision. In the previous season Hazlewood only played 3 matches for CSK as their bowling lineup was filled with domestic players, Sam Curran and Bravo.
