England’s James Anderson entered the coveted 600 clubs on Tuesday. Anderson became only the fourth bowler and the first seamer to create this feat of taking 600 wickets in test cricket. Anderson’s illustrious international career began in 2003. England’s paceman reached this record when he dismissed Pakistan’s Azhar Ali in the third test match as England skipper Root took the catch at first slip. After taking his 600^th wicket his teammates gathered on the field to congratulate.

After taking his 600^th wicket Anderson saluted at all sides of the stadium holding the ball in his hand with a smile. His actions brought a jovial mood among the players since the stadium had no spectators due to the coronavirus restrictions. The England coach Chris Silverwood and other support staff applauded from the player from the sideline.

Anderson, who is currently playing his 156^th test, is placed on the fourth position on the list of all-time leading wicket-takers in the Test format. Ahead of him are spinners Muttiah Muralitharan (800), Shane Warne (708) and Anil Kumble (619) who all are retired from the game. Anderson now only needs 20 wickets to go past Indian stalwart bowler Kumble and it seems he will achieve it in the coming months.

When asked about his retirement Anderson said he has no plans to do so in near future. Now his focus is to represent England in the Ashes series which is scheduled for next year.
