IPL 2021: We haven’t seen the best of KL Rahul yet, says Gautam Gambhir

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir expects KL Rahul to have an impressive IPL season when the second phase of the league resumes later this week. Gambhir believes that the big-hitting opener has not yet delivered the best. Gautam Gambhir said that the cricket world have not seen the best of KL Rahul in the IPL.

Gambhir added that Rahul is capable of playing an excellent season by scoring two or three centuries at a very good strike rate. In the first half of the 2021 IPL, Rahul has scored 331 runs in seven matches at an average of 66.20. He has scored four half-centuries with a good strike rate of 136.21. Rahul is second on the list of IPL 2021 top-scorers. KL Rahul, the captain of Punjab Kings leads the team from front with his batting skills.

Gambhir said that Rahul had got runs, but still we have not seen what he can achieve in his batting. KL Rahul could have a season like Virat Kohli had in the 2016 IPL. Kohli finished the season by hitting astonishing four centuries, which remains the record for most hundreds in any single edition of a T20 tournament. Rahul is that kind of a player when it comes to white-ball cricket.

Gambhir believes that AB de Villiers will face a huge challenge, since he has not played any cricket recently. Gambhir ended up that the conditions in UAE could favor the Mumbai Indians. The second phase of IPL 2021 begins with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on the Chennai Super Kings on 19th September in Dubai.
