India won the match by 8 runs against England to level the 5-match T20I series. Batting first, India scored 185 for 8 wickets. England, chasing the target of 186 runs lost the wicket of the previous match hero Jose Butler (9) early. Jason Roy (40) and Dawid Malan (14) played vital partnership by adding 45 runs, but Malan was soon dismissed. However, Johnny Bairstow (25) and Ben Stokes (46) put England back into the match. As players who followed them perished sooner England ran out of gas. Earlier, India scored 185 for 8 on the back of strong performances from Suryakumar Yadav (57) and Shreyas Iyer (37). India got the first blow in the form of Rohit Sharma (12) after which KL Rahul (14) and Suryakumar added 42 runs before Rahul was dismissed by Stokes. After this, however, captain Virat Kohli (1), who scored 2 consecutive half-centuries in the series, was unable to score runs with his bat as he was dismissed by Adil Rashid. After which Suryakumar added 40 runs with Rishabh Pant (30). The blistering partnership came to an end when Sam Curran dismissed Suryakumar. Suryakumar hit 6 fours and 3 sixes off 31 balls in his debut match and with this, he’s now the 5th Indian to score a half-century in a T20I International debut match. In the end, Iyer played a brilliant innings and guided India to a competitive total.
