South Africa beat India by 7 wickets in the second Test to level the three-match series. For the first time, Proteas has breached the Indian fortress at Wanderers. Indian team faced their first Test loss in Johannesburg. Earlier, India had won test matches under Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli’s captaincy. KL Rahul’s captaincy luck has rubbed off on the Indian team too.
A real test is on the line for India’s head coach Dravid. It would become a black mark if India loses the Test series. Earlier, India had done well under Ravi Shastri in Overseas Tests. Earlier, everybody thought that rain would ruin the day’s play, but the game resumed once the rain stopped. Indian bowlers failed to make a good impact by taking wickets.
Proteas skipper Dean Elgar was the hero for the hosts. It was an absolute grit from Elgar and he truly played a captain’s knock. Elgar batted strongly to score an unbeaten 96 and stood like a rock in the chase. Elgar guided his team to victory by scripting back-to-back fifty-plus stands with Rassie van der Dussen (40) and Temba Bavuma (23*).Earlier, Aiden Markram (31) and Petersen (28) gave good support to their captain by adding 59-runs.
For India, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, and Ravichandran Ashwin managed to pick one wicket each. Dravid admitted that the result could have gone different, if his men had put up a big total in the first-innings. Kohli is expected to return for the decider. The action will now shift to the decisive Test that starts on 11th January in Cape Town.
