Gambhir: If Rohit doesn’t captain India in White Ball cricket it is a misfortune for the team

Former Indian cricket team opener Gautam Gambhir again advocated Rohit Sharma to take the command of Team India in the limited-overs format. Gautam Gambhir believes that if Rohit Sharma is not given the full-time captaincy of the White Ball cricket team then it would be a shame for Indian cricket. Apart from Gambhir, former India team opener Virender Sehwag and former England captain Michael Vaughan also say that Rohit Sharma should be the captain of the Indian T20 team without question.

Gambhir during a conversation with ESPN said if Rohit Sharma does not become the captain of India it is the misfortune of India. Not of Rohit Sharma. Rohit by winning 5 titles is the most successful captain of the India’s top-tier league. So, if he does not get the white ball captaincy going forward Gambhir feels it is a shame because Rohit can do nothing more than this since he can only win the team he is captaining.

Gambhir added that if Rohit Sharma doesn’t go on to become the regular captain of India, then it will be the misfortune of the team. The former Indian cricketer made a point that many would say that since Virat Kohli is the captain Rohit was at the wrong time. But you can share the captaincy. There is no problem in sharing the captaincy as Rohit Sharma has shown how different white ball captaincy is.
