Delhi reach the finals for the first time in the history of the league

Delhi Capitals reached the final for the first time in the history of the league by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs. This is the second consecutive season that Delhi has knocked Hyderabad out of the playoffs as they defeated SRH last time in the Eliminator.

Batting first after winning the toss, DC scored 189 runs and posted a huge target for SRH. In response, Hyderabad’s team could only score 172 runs for 8 wickets loss. Kane Williamson scored the highest of 67 runs for SRH. Williamson, who won the previous match, could not make Hyderabad the winner in this match. Abdul Samad scored 33 runs off 16 balls, but it was not enough.

Kagiso Rabada overturned the match with 3 wickets in the 19th over. He first sent Samad to the pavilion. After this Rashid Khan (11) and Srivats Goswami (0) were dismissed. Marcus Stoinis showed the pavilion for Priyam Garg (17) and Manish Pandey (21) paving the way in the 5th over. Captain David Warner scored only 2 runs while Jason Holder scored 11 runs. For Delhi, Rabada took 4, Stoinis 3 and Axar Patel took one wicket.

Shikhar Dhawan with 78 runs was the top runs getter for the Delhi Capitals. Shimron Hetmyer scored a crucial 42 runs and remained not out. Marcus Stoinis and Shreyas Iyer scored 38 and 21 runs. SRH’s Sandeep Sharma, Jason Holder and Rashid took one wicket each.
