Delhi Capitals kickstart their campaign with a thundering win against CSK

The second match of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings. Delhi started the tournament with a win by defeating Chennai by 7 wickets by easily reaching the 189-run target in 18.4 overs.
Delhi scored 190 for 3 wickets. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan played a blistering innings. Both shared a 138-run partnership for the first wicket. Dhawan scored 85 runs while Prithvi Shaw scored 72 runs. Marcus Stoinis scored 14 runs off 9 balls but Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten after scoring 15 runs off 12 balls.
It was Rishabh Pant’s first match as captain and he defeated his idol Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It was the first league stage match between the two. After this, the second match will take place between the two on 21 May during which Dhoni will look to equalize the margin in that match.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings scored 188 runs for 7 wickets. The top run-getter for CSK was Suresh Raina who scored 54 runs. Moeen Ali contributed 36 runs while Sam Curran scoring 34 off 15 balls by smashing 4 fours and 2 sixes all around the ground in his innings.
Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 26 off 17 balls with the help of three fours. Ambati Rayudu smashed 23 runs off 16 balls. Rituraj Gaikwad scored 5 runs. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Faf Duplessis could not open the account.
