COVID-19: India-SA ODI series called off, BCCI to reschedule it later

The first ODI match between India and South Africa on 12th March 2020 had abandoned due to the rainy condition in the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium at Dharamshala. The 2nd and the 3rd ODI match scheduled at Lucknow on 15th March and Kolkata on 18th March 2020, had cancelled the matches because of the COVID-19 spread.

          The Board of Control for Cricket in India and Cricket South Africa had decided to reschedule all the 3 matches later in the forthcoming months. For now, the discussion over the date to play the 3 ODI series between India and South Africa cricket teams is yet to know. Previously the ODI matches were to conduct with empty stands, but the death rates of the COVID-19 had led to cancel the Proteas ODI tour in India. After the West Indies cricket team’s close down from continuing match in 2014, the second time, in the BCCI history, South Africa, the international cricket team is willing to discontinue the ODI match series since India had fallen under the radar of COVID-19 effect.

              COVID-19 had stalled several international games, namely Football, Formula 1, golf, etc. Now, adding to the queue another international sport, cricket fell for the epidemic, apart from ODI also the Indian Premier League dates postponed from the schedule. Due to the health alert the IPL matches that are to begin from 29th March, those games are to begin from April 15th, 2020.
