Chris Morris was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for a whopping Rs. 16.25 crores which is an IPL auction record price in the history of the league. Morris has broken the previous record of Rs 16 crore held by Yuvraj Singh. Teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Punjab Kings (PK) were also in the tussle for Morris whose base price was set at Rs 75 Lakh. Morris last featured in the IPL for the RCB team. The South African is well known for his death bowling skills in the T20 format along with being a powerful tail-ender batsman. Morris’s career in IPL boasts 551 runs and 80 wickets in 70 matches and will be featuring in his 8th successive season. He has previously played for Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and was picked by RCB for Rs 10 crore in the previous auction. Asides from Morris another all-rounder also saw big money from the auction. Glenn Maxwell as always grabbed the attention of teams and was bought by RCB for Rs 14.25 crore. Punjab Kings entered the auction with maximum purse among all the teams and pumped Rs 14 crore to rope in Australian pacer Jhye Richardson to fill in the hole of an inconsistent bowling attack. The youngster has featured in 9 T20Is, 13 ODIs and 2 Tests for Australia and was the leading wicket-taker in the recent Big Bash League.
