Broad picks his 500th Test wicket as England lift the Wisden Trophy

England put on a brilliant performance across all the departments of the game to defeat the West Indies by a mammoth 269-run in the third Test at Manchester. Stuart Broad created history by taking his 500th Test wicket, he also excelled both with bat and ball in the match with taking 10 wickets and scoring a fast-paced 62 runs in the first innings. Now Broad has become the 7th bowler in the world and the 2nd English bowler after James Anderson to reach 500 wickets in international Test format. Broad took 6 wickets for only 31 runs in the first innings and 4 wickets in the second innings giving the opposition 36 runs.

Likewise, Chris Woakes put on a great display with the ball in the second innings by registering 5 wickets for 50 runs. West Indies were bowled out for quick 129 runs as the last day of the match was often threatened by chill wind over the ground, at times bringing scudding showers. But that did not stop the hosts to dominate the match as they won the series by 2-1. Similar to the last match West Indies batsmen were unable to stand their ground against England’s bowling attack as they lost their wickets at quick succession. Stuart Broad was awarded the man of the match for his performance. Now England will face Pakistan in their next Test series at Old Trafford in a week’s time.
