Kolkata Knight Riders thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 86 runs in Sharjah. Chasing a mammoth target of 172 runs, KKR bowled out RR for 85 and won the match with a big margin. With this win, KKR consolidated their fourth spot and increased their chances to get into the playoffs with a good net run rate of +0.587. Shivam Mavi best figured with 4 wickets from 3.1 overs. While Ferguson bagged three, Shakib Al Hasan and Chakravarthy took a wicket each.
RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer gave an excellent start to KKR by scoring 79 runs for the first wicket. Rahul Tewatia clean bowled Iyer (38) and gave RR a breakthrough in the 11th over. Gill scored a brilliant fifty in 40 balls and set up a solid platform for KKR to reach a good score.
Middle-order batsmen Rahul Tripathi, Dinesh Karthik, and skipper Eoin Morgan made sure their team score a 170-run mark to set up an exciting run-chase. Kolkata Knight Riders finished for 171/4 in 20 overs and registered their highest total this season.
Shakib Al Hasan bowled the first over and stunned RR by cleaning up Jaiswal for a duck in the third ball. While Mavi dismissed Samson (2) in the second over, Ferguson removed Livingstone (6) in the fourth over. KKR rolled on Royals batting line up and kept on taking wickets. Pacer Shivam Mavi rattled Royals batsmen with intense pace and bowled out Rahul Tewatia for 44 to register his best bowling figures in IPL. Defending champions Mumbai Indians has to register a huge win against Hyderabad to dislodge KKR from the fourth place.
