Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said that everyone will see a more confident variant of him in the limited-over series against Sri Lanka. India will play three ODIs and three T20Is against Sri Lanka that starts on July 13 in Colombo. A lot will depend upon the spinners when the white ball campaign begins.
The 20-member squad has a variety of options in right-arm leg-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy, and Rahul Chahar. Chahal told that he has worked more with Coach Rahul Dravid during India-A Series matches. Chahal added Dravid wants him to be more focused and guide the youngsters since he is a senior spinner in the team.
Chahal was a key spinner of India’s ODI squad in the 2019 World Cup. Since that tournament, he hasn’t had an assured spot, which is reflected in BCCI’s annual contracts list for the year as well. Chahal was demoted to Grade C from Grade B.
Chahal was benched entirely in India’s home series against England in March, which showed his diminished importance. But Chahal said the team management had proclaimed their confidence in him. Chahal said every player cannot perform well in all the matches, there are ups and downs. He will focus more and give his best in this most important series.
He added, later on, he will be focusing on the IPL and theT20I World cup. Four years ago, when India toured Sri Lanka, Chahal had picked five wickets in four ODIs and three wickets in a one-off T20I. He has played 54 T20Is and ODIs for the Indian team.
