Indian skipper Mithali Raj surpassed former England skipper Charlotte Edward’s record to become the highest run-scorer across all formats. Mithali achieved the feat in the final and third ODI against England in New Road One stadium on Saturday. Mithali Raj became the first batswoman to score 7,000 ODI runs earlier in March 2021.

The Indian skipper reached the milestone of leading run-scorer in the 23rd over of the match. She scored a boundary down the ground off Nat Schiver and became the world’s most archaic batswoman in women’s internationals, overtaking Charlotte Edwards’ 10,273 runs.

Mithali Raj scored an unbeaten 75 runs and helped her team to the first win on their ongoing tour of England. India chased down the target of 220 runs in the final over with four wickets in hand. The match was reduced to a 47-over game due to rain.

After the win, Mithali told that she wanted to stay out in the middle and reach the target. She applauded the young all-rounder Sneh Rahan for playing a good cameo to put India back on the track in their chase.

Mithali Raj is the most capped ODI player in women’s international cricket. She is the first Indian woman batsman to get 10,000 runs across all formats. Mithali has 7,244 runs in ODIs, 669 runs in Tests, and 2,364 runs in T20Is. Two Indian cricketers, Sachin Tendulkar and Mithali Raj have the highest runs in international cricket. Both made their Indian debuts at the age of 16 years and 205 days, which was a co-incident.
