The Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a statement that Jasprit Bumrah’s injury was detected during a ‘routine radiological screening’. Bumrah will be changed by Umesh Yadav in India’s squad.
India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming home Test series against South Africa that is slated to begin from October 2. BCCI informed that the Indian pace spearhead endured a minor stress fracture in his lower back on Tuesday. Pacer Umesh Yadav has been named as Bumrah’s changed for the 3-match Test series. Umesh last played a Test in 2018 at Perth beside Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah has been phenomenal in modern times and was more than impressive in the Test series beside West Indies. Bumrah was India’s wrecker-in-chief as he selected 13 wickets at an average of just 9.23 in the newly concluded 2-match Test series.
The three-Test series will be a part of the incomplete ICC World Test Championship. India is currently top the point table with 120 points while New Zealand and Sri Lanka are at second and 3rd place with 60 points each.
In India’s last Test series next to the West Indies, Jasprit Bumrah picked up 13 wickets in two Test matches.
