The Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Punjab Kings by 5 wickets in  yesterday’s IPL match. KKR recorded their first win after four consecutive defeats.  With this win, they reached number five in the IPL 2021 points table. While this is  the fourth defeat for the Punjab Kings. Both these teams now have 4 points from 6  matches, but KKR is ranked number 5 based on a better net run rate. 

Kolkata Knight Riders have won for the fourth time in the last 5 matches  against Punjab Kings. In this match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in  Ahmedabad, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose  bowling. Punjab Kings put on a total score of 123 runs for 9 wickets in the first  inning. Similar to the previous matches PBKS showed their poor form. Kolkata  Knight Riders won the match by scoring 126 runs for 5 wickets. Earlier, 6 players of  Punjab Kings could not touch the figure of 10. KKR’s Prasidh Krishna took 3 wickets  while Sunil Narine and Pat Cummins managed to take 2-2 wickets. 

Chris Jordan scored 30 off 18 balls with the help of one four and 3 sixes.  Mayank Agarwal was the highest scorer with 31 runs. Eoin Morgan with his  unbeaten 40 runs was elected as man of the match. His partner Dinesh Karthik  remained unbeaten at 12 runs. Earlier, Rahul Tripathi returned to the pavilion  scoring 41 runs.
