KKR secures a playoff position as they beat RR by 60 runs

The Kolkata Knight Riders made it to the top-4 with a convincing win. They defeated Rajasthan Royals by 60 runs in a ‘do or die’ match. After this defeat, Rajasthan’s team reached the bottom of the points table at number eight and were eliminated from the tournament. Captain Eoin Morgan and fast bowler Pat Cummins contributed most to Kolkata’s victory.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and called Kolkata to bat. KKR scored 191 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing a target of 192 runs, Rajasthan’s team could only manage to score 131 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Jose Butler with 35 runs scored the most runs for his team. While players like Rahul Tewatia contributed 31, Shreyas Gopal 13 and Ben Stokes contributed 18 runs. But Cummins was the hero with the ball as he took 4 wickets and also won the Player of the Match. While Varun Chakraborty and Shivam Mavi each took two wickets for Kolkata.

Captain Eoin Morgan played a stormy innings for KKR in which he scored 68 runs off 35 balls and blasted 5 fours and 6 sixes with the bat. For Rajasthan, their bowlers had a bad day in which Rahul Tewatia took 3 and Karthik Tyagi took 2 wickets. As for Kolkata, Rahul Tripathi scored 39, Shubman Gill 36 and Andre Russell scored 25 runs while Pat Cummins contributed to the team by scoring a vital 15 runs.
