England batted first and put a total of 302 runs in 50 overs losing 7 wickets. Australia after a terrible start chased this target in 49.4 overs and won both the match and the series. Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was awarded Man of the Match and Man of the Series for his outstanding performance.
Maxwell-Carey scored the most runs for Australia in the match. Maxwell made a quick century by scoring 108 runs. Alex Carey also reached his first ODI century by scoring 106 runs which also saw him complete his thousand runs in ODIs. David Warner contributed 24, Labuschagne 20, captain Aaron Finch 12 and Mitchell Starc contributed 11 runs. Chris Woakes and Joe Root took 2–2 wickets each for England. Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer took 1-1 wickets.
Jonny Bairstow also scored a century for England as he made the most runs for his team by scoring 112 runs. In addition, Sam Billings and Chris Woakes hit half-centuries. Billings scored 57 and Woakes scored 53* runs. Tom Curran contributed 19 runs and Adil Rashid contributed 11 runs. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa each took 3-3 wickets and Pat Cummins 1 wicket for Australia.
