Multiple CSK members test positive for COVID-19

About 13 members of CSK have tested positive for COVID-19, the names of the individuals have not been released yet. Among the 13 members, one is said to be an Indian bowler while others being the support/coaching staff. According to a source close to the team said the player to test positive was Deepak Chahar and that now he is under observation.

The team landed in Dubai on August 21 and upon completion of the mandatory six-day quarantine, were scheduled to begin coaching from August 28. However, with the new development, the team has extended its quarantine period in order to stay safe and to be cautious in not spreading the disease.

Few players of other teams have already started their practicing whereas the others are set to start shortly, with the exception of CSK.

As per protocols that require to be followed throughout this IPL, all individuals related to the tournament would have to go through testing upon arrival in the UAE. This may be followed by tests on days one, three and six of their quarantine at the hotels that they stay, and solely once testing negative altogether 3 times the players will be allowed to practice.

CSK before their arrival at UAE had organized a five-day coaching camp at their home ground chepauk. Skipper MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Deepak Chahar, Ambati Rayudu, Piyush Chawla and Shardul Thakur were all a part of the camp, as was bowling coach L Balaji.
