Richard Boock spokesperson of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in his recent press meet has said that the board would be issuing the No Objection Certificates (NOC) to the players, who are set to participate in this year’s edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). Yet, the NZC said the due diligence regarding their health and safety which the players would have to submit in order to acquire permission to feature in the IPL will have to be done by the players themselves.
In the upcoming season of IPL, six New Zealand players are set to take part. They are Kane Williamson (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Mitchell Santner (Chennai Super Kings), Jimmy Mitchell McClenaghan and Trent Boult (Mumbai Indians), Neesham (Kings XI Punjab) and Lockie Ferguson (Kolkata Knight Riders). Former players such as Stephen Fleming (Chennai Super Kings), Mike Hesson (Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Shane Bond (Mumbai Indians) are in the support staff. New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson recently had wanted to know about the safety protocols placed in UAE for the event.
This past week The BCCI had decided to shift the IPL 2020 to UAE due to the rise of coronavirus infections in the country. This decision has come after ICC postponed the Men’s T20 World Cup due to the COVID-19 pandemic which gave BCCI an open window to host its event. The BCCI has said it is planning to host the IPL from September-end till November.
