Once the ban is lifted Sreesanth can represent his state’s Ranji side for the 2020-2021 edition.
Along with Sreesanth two of his fellow Rajasthan Royals teammates, AjitChandila and Ankit Chavan were also given a life ban by the BCCI. Ever since that Sreesanth has been out of the cricket for the past seven years. In 2019 Supreme Court upholding Sreesanth’s guilt asked the cricketing board to reduce the period of the ban imposed on him. Taking this into consideration the life ban was reduced to 7 years.
Before the tournament starts Sreesanth will have to pass the fitness test to join the squad. Tinu stated that he is confident about Sreesanth passing the test since the player has an ample amount of time to prepare for it. Sreesanth in a statement to the media said that he is grateful for this opportunity and will prove his fitness. The former Indian pacer was previously part of the winning squad of 2007 and 2011 World Cup tournaments.
