Coronavirus: BCCI Confirms Postponement Of IPL 2020, No New Dates Announced

The 13th season VIVO Indian Premier League 2020, a major awaits ends, the 2020 IPL season, which was to begin on March 29th, 2020, has rescheduled to begin on April 15th, 2020. But the league once again had cancelled due to the unpredictable situation with the coronavirus health crisis. The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the decision this week on suspension of IPL season 13 indefinitely due to the novel coronavirus spread.

Since a couple of weeks ago, India and various other countries are under lockdown. Jay Shah, the BCCI’s Honorary Secretary, announced that by prioritizing the global health concern, abiding by the orders of the Indian Government, and with the extension of lockdown to May 3rd, 2020, the IPL season 13 has been temporarily removed until a period of notice said the BCCI Secretary. The suspension of the league has confirmed after the combined thoughts of Stakeholders, Franchise Owners, Sponsors, and the acknowledgment of IPL authorities.

Further, the BCCI Secretary said by supporting the regulations, and with the guidance of the government, and when surrounded with a safe situation by having controlled coronavirus, the IPL board, along with stakeholders will decide a date.  Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman suggested the board to schedule earlier before the T20 World Cup 2020 with Australia and Kevin Pietersen the South African batsman asked the board to shorten the commencement weeks and to conduct the matches behind the doors.
