South Africa vs England 2nd Test Match Day 1

2nd Test series between the SA and England began at the Cape Town on 3rd December 2020. The host decided to bat with the openers Zak Crawley and DP Sibley. Proteas bowling had a sharp and smooth impact discharging the wickets off the ground.

          In 2.5 overs English batsman Crawley (4) leaves the ground. DP Sibley batted 34 runs from 76 balls, the Captain returned after 35-49 by the home ground player’s Quinton Kock and Anrich Nortje and JL Denly next among the top 4 batsmen for the day withstood passing fours to the boundary until he was stumped by Keshav Maharaj.

BA Stokes and Ollie Pope batting showed a promising partnership, when Stokes (47 runs 76 balls) was caught by Dean Elgar (SA) Pope decided to stay. Jos Butler England’s wicket-keeper scored 29 runs from 27 balls. Sam Curran earned 9 runs, Dominic Bees 0 by Vernon Philander, and Stuart Broad added 1 to the scoreboard. Pope (54) and James Anderson (3) retained with 262 for 9 was a close for a Day 1 game.

Analysed bowling was projected after Butler’s out, stumping was open for the bowlers eliminated batsmen. Dwaine Pretorius, Philander including duck, Kagiso Rabada, and Nortje each obtained 2, lastly Maharaj took a wicket from the host team. England might have had a slow start with Rory’s Burn ankle injury. Also, Proteas bowler Vernon Philander’s words about this being his last Test series anchored his fan’s thoughts.
