Skipper Faf du Plessis lauded Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s increased assertiveness for their amazing resurgence in the Indian Premier League after the Virat Kohli-starrer side beat Delhi Capitals (DC) to stay in the playoff race on Sunday. RCB, dubbed regular underachievers in the cash-rich tournament, has lost seven of its first eight IPL 2024 matches. However, the Bengaluru heavyweights mounted an incredible comeback, winning their last five games in the lead-up to the playoffs.

Once again, RCB has demonstrated their ability to deliver when it counts, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling encounter between the two teams, Tom Moody said on Star Sports. RCB will battle against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who are also in contention for a playoff berth, in their final league game on May 18, Saturday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

It’s iconic for the entire IPL, truly. You’ve got two colossal names in cricket here in India and in world cricket-Dhoni and Kohli. They’re both dominant figures, leaving a huge legacy wherever they’ve been. And the interesting thing is anything can still happen on that table, the former Australian all-rounder added. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is the only team, who have already qualified, and as many as seven teams are still in contention for a playoff berth.

Yet, it’s still anyone’s game. Any team could clinch a spot in that coveted top four. Rajat Patidar, in particular, has been a revelation in the past five or six games, smashing several quick-fire half-centuries. Patidar’s aggressive approach has consistently put pressure on the opposition’s bowling attack, making it incredibly challenging for them to get back into the contest, Moody concluded.
