Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) exhibited an incredible batting performance to beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets in their home ground. Marcus Stoinis played an outstanding knock, reaching the three-figure mark in 56 balls, and went on to secure a memorable win for LSG. The Australian all-rounder remained unbeaten on 124 from 63 deliveries with 13 fours and six sixes as LSG completed a record run chase at the Chepauk in 19.3 overs. This was also the highest individual score in IPL in a run-chase.

Earlier, Matt Henry gave LSG a fine start by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane for just 3. Daryl Mitchell, who struggled to score at the death was sent to bat at No.3. But yet again the Kiwi all-rounder stumbled and departed for 11. Ravindra Jadeja failed to play T20 innings and walked back after scoring a 19-ball 16. Although wickets kept falling, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad attacked the LSG bowlers and scored runs with ease.

Gaikwad alongside Shivam Dube stitched an excellent 104-run partnership in just 46 balls to keep CSK on top. Gaikwad went on to hit his century while Dube rained sixes to bring up his half-century. Dube went back to the dressing room after playing a blistering knock of 27-ball 66, smashing 3 fours and 7 sixes. Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 108 and MS Dhoni finished off CSK’s innings with a four, taking them to 210/4 in 20 overs.

Defending 211, CSK started well with Deepak Chahar cleaning up Quinton de Kock for a duck. Moments later, Mustafizur Rahman removed KL Rahul (16), who played a match-winning knock in the previous match. Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda played cameos of 34 and 17* respectively to support Stoinis. CSK lost the match with poor bowling at the death.
