It was a treat for the cricket fans as both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batters displayed incredible power hitting, but in the end, SRH bowlers held their nerves to produce brilliant effort and won the high-scoring encounter by 25 runs. Chasing a mammoth 288, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis played a blistering knock of 28-ball 62 to keep his side in the hunt. Dinesh Karthik exhibited pure hitting and smacked 83 runs in just 35 balls to turn the match in favor of RCB. However, RCB lost regular wickets towards the end and eventually, fell short of the target.
Du Plessis’ decision to bowl first proved wrong, as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head attacked the RCB bowlers right from the start. Head was more aggressive among the two and the Australian batter cleared the boundary ropes with ease. Both added 108 runs in 8 overs before Abhishek departed for 34. With RCB bowlers stumbling and the pitch also assisting the batters well, SRH sent Henrich Klaasen up the order to keep the momentum going.
Both Head and Klaasen rained fours and sixes, never allowing the RCB bowlers to settle. Head hit his incredible century in just 40 balls, blasting 9 fours and 8 sixes. Klaasen departed after playing a brilliant knock of 67. Aiden Markram chipped in with 32 while Abdul Samad produced an amazing cameo of 10-ball 37 guiding SRH to 287/3, the highest total in IPL history.
Virat Kohli and Du Plessis gave RCB a good start, adding 80 runs in 6 overs. Mayank Markande came into the attack and bowled a brilliant googly to outfox Kohli (42). RCB then lost four wickets in no time. SRH captain Pat Cummins struck twice in the 10th over to remove well-settled Du Plessis and Saurav Chauhan. Anuj Rawat played a cameo of 14-ball 25 but that was not enough to take RCB home.
