Team India is gearing up to take on England in the third Test, starting on February 15, Thursday at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Rohit Sharma-led side will eye to deliver well with the bat since the Indian batters are struggling to score more runs. Indian players will look to produce an impressive performance to win the test and take a 2-1 lead. Young cricketer Sarfaraz Khan is all set to get his maiden cap in the third test after averaging over 100 for three successive domestic seasons.
With middle-order mainstay KL Rahul failing to clear the fitness test, the 26-year-old Sarfaraz will claim his spot in the playing XI against England. Sarfaraz will be making his debut. As KL has been ruled out for this Test, Sarfaraz will be getting his first game, a BCCI source confirmed. Sarfaraz has been working hard for the past few years. After Virat Kohli’s withdrawal from the first two Tests, selectors chose Rajat Patidar ahead of Sarfaraz, but the right-handed batter remained hopeful. A day after being snubbed from selection, the middle-order batter scored 161 against the England Lions.
The game is all about patience. If we have to play Test cricket, we have to be patient. In life, there are times when we rush ourselves. I would get emotional about my wait to get into the team. My father always told me to keep working hard and I’ll be unstoppable. Having self-belief and patience is very important, Sarfaraz expressed in his recent interview.
Wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel is expected to make his debut in the Rajkot test. The 23-year-old cricketer will replace KS Bharat, who was far from his best so far in the series.
