Former Indian legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar is disappointed with Team India’s performance as they experienced a humiliating loss to South Africa in the first Test. The first Test in Centurion lasted only three days as the Proteas registered an innings win. Gavaskar is not pleased with India’s approach with both bat and ball. The batting icon has proposed two changes to India’s playing XI as the Rohit Sharma-led side heads to Newlands, Cape Town, for the last Test of the series.

With Ravichandran Ashwin failing to make a big impact in Centurion, Gavaskar wants Ravindra Jadeja back in the squad if he is fit. Jadeja missed the first Test due to a back spasm. However, Jadeja’s absence hampered the batting lineup with Ashwin at No.7. The return of Jadeja will benefit the batting more than the spin-bowling. With the pitch at Newlands likely to be similar to Centurion, there won’t be much assistance for spinners.

Hopefully, Jadeja will be fit to return. And Mukesh Kumar in place of Prasidh Krishna is another possibility for me. The wind generally helps deliveries in Cape Town, and bowlers who can swing the ball in the air are successful. Mukesh could be the one who can swing the ball well both ways, Sunil Gavaskar said.

Prasidh’s Test debut was a disaster, going for 93 runs in 20 overs with just one wicket in the first Test between South Africa and India. Along with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh will be the third seamer who can pick up wickets, Gavaskar Concluded.
