Men in Blue are getting ready for their next assignment, the Asia Cup which kicks off on August 30, Wednesday. Team India will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2, Saturday in Kandy. The team has convened in Alur, Bengaluru, for a preparatory camp before departing for the Asia Cup 2023 for Sri Lanka.
As the squad prepares for the continental event, a video of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja batting together at the nets has surfaced on social media. Both players take turns playing a ball, which they poke down the leg side and run singles with.
Veteran batter Kohli is making his comeback after sitting out the last ODI series against the West Indies. He’ll be one of India’s batting mainstays, and with the squad failing to find a perfect fit for the number four spot, the former India captain might step in.
With the World Cup approaching and being played in similar conditions, Kohli would like to capitalize on his dominant run and confidently enter the main event. Kohli has 427 runs at an average of 53.37 in 10 ODIs this year, including two tons, a fifty, and a high of 166 against Sri Lanka.
In contrast, Jadeja, along with Hardik Pandya, is expected to lead the team’s all-round department. Aside from batting, his bowling will be an important element for India. Along with Kuldeep Yadav, who has been given a shot ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal, he is anticipated to lead the team’s spin department.
