Star Indian batter Virat Kohli has returned to his old red-hot form in international cricket. The former Indian captain has started to prove again that he is a run machine. Kohli recorded back-to-back centuries when he smashed 113 off 87 balls against Sri Lanka in the first ODI match. The top-order batter’s 45th ODI ton came just weeks after he slammed his 72nd international century against Bangladesh in December.

Former BCCI selector Saba Karim believes that Kohli could soon break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of hitting the most centuries in the 50-over format. The former legendary batter has 49 ODI tons under his belt. Karim admitted that Sachin would be the happiest man if it happens. With the kind of form that Kohli is in, all Indian fans expect him to do it very soon.

The former cricketer said that Kohli is not playing for records at the moment. Kohli’s complete focus is on the ODI World Cup and his aim is to win the coveted trophy at home for India. It is worth mentioning that the 32-year-old batter’s knock against Sri Lanka has helped him to equal Tendulkar’s record of hitting 20 ODI centuries on Indian soil.

Kohli’s form will play a huge role in the hosts’ chances of winning the ODI World Cup for the third time, having emerged as champions in 1988 and 2011. It would be a treat for the Indian fans if Kohli hits his 46th ODI century when Men in blue takes on Sri Lanka in the series decider tomorrow at Eden Gardens.
