India registered a fantastic 49-run victory over England in the second T20I at Edgbaston. Indian bowlers produced a high-class performance to dominate the England batters right from the start. India skipper Rohit Sharma’s inspirational leadership helped India to completely outclass England and clinch the three-match series with an unassailable lead of 2-0. With the win, India recorded their fourth consecutive series win against England.
After being invited to bat first, Rohit and Rishabh Pant gave India a flying start by scoring 49-runs. But Richard Gleeson tilted the game in favor of England by picking up three wickets. He dismissed Rohit (31), Pant (26), and Kohli (1) in quick succession to put India on the backfoot.
Chris Jordan then joined the party by dismissing Suryakumar Yadav (15) and Hardik Pandya (12) in consecutive deliveries. However, all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial knock to steer India to a challenging total of 170/8. The southpaw remained unbeaten on 46.
In response, England had a very poor start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar jolted them very early by dismissing Jason Roy for a golden duck. He then bagged England captain Jos Butler for just 4. Very soon, Jasprit Bumrah came up with a cracker to clean up Livingstone on 15.
Moeen Ali (35) and David Willey (33) put in a fight but England kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Indian bowlers did a brilliant job to bowl out England for 121. Bhuvneshwar took three wickets while Bumrah and Chahal scalped two wickets each. The final T20I match will be played today at Trent Bridge.
