Sourav Ganguly’s tweet created a massive buzz and many were left wondering if the former India captain had decided to resign as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India after nearly three years at the helm. One of India’s most celebrated captains, Ganguly took over as BCCI president in October 2019. Ganguly’s tweet took social media by storm and forced the BCCI secretary Jay Shah to clarify.
In response, Jay Shah issued a statement that the rumors doing rounds about Mr. Sourav Ganguly stepping down from the post of BCCI President are factually incorrect. Shah further said that they have some exciting times in the form of media rights coming up, he and his colleagues are completely focused on the upcoming opportunity and safeguarding the interest of Indian cricket.
Ganguly shared that he is commencing on a new journey, although without revealing any further details. Ganguly wrote in his statement that 2022 marks the 30th year since the start of his journey with cricket in 1992. Since then, cricket has given him a lot. Most importantly, it has given him the support of all.
The veteran cricketer also thanked every single person who has been part of the journey and helped him to reach where he is today. Ganguly further wrote that today, he is planning to start something that he feels will probably help a lot of people. He hopes everyone will continue their support as he enters this chapter of my life. It was learned that Ganguly’s tweet was a promotional one for an upcoming project that Shah spoke about.
